30 APR – OVERCOME THE POWERS THAT CHALLENGE YOU

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 JOHN 1:8-9

How do you overcome the powers that challenge you? To overcome the powers that challenge you, first you need:

•Prompt repentance: The scripture we read above was not written for unbelievers, it was written for Christians because the sin here is not only talking about fornication, adultery or stealing. There are different kinds of sin; we have sins of omission; and sins of commission, we have what we call conscious sin: the sins that judge your conscience after committing them; and there is also the ones you commit which you are not conscious of. For instance, doubt; if you are supposed to believe God and you doubt Him, you have sinned. The Bible says, “What so ever that is not of faith is sin” (Rom. 14:23). It means that there is a sin we must always confess.

•Walk in love: the Bible says, “Anyone that hates his brother is a murderer (1John 3:15). Once you start to hate people and begin to wish them evil, God sees you as someone who kills. Satan fears love than prayer because the one who walks in love carries more spiritual authority than the one who prays. So, let love direct your life always.

PRAYER:

Pray and ask God to give you the grace to remain obedient to His Word and to walk in true love…..

TODAY’S QUOTE:

If you increase your love for God, your love for others will increase.
