“Having a good conscience, so that when they speak evil of you as evildoers, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.” – 1 Peter 3:16 (NKJV)
Conscience is what prevents even non-Christians from committing evil. The Apostle Paul said, “In the latter times, some will have their conscience seared” (1 Timothy 4:2), meaning they will do evil without feeling any guilt.
One day, I bought something from a shop, and the cashier gave me more change than she was supposed to. I drove to another location to make a purchase, and when I opened my bag, I realized her mistake. Immediately, a voice spoke to me: “If you keep this money, you will disgrace Me.”
I turned back to the shop and found the cashier in tears. She was telling her friend, “I gave this man too much change, but someone told me he’s a pastor. If he truly is a pastor, he’ll return the money.”
If I had kept the money, I would have shattered someone’s faith. There are actions we take that can lead others to lose faith. The Lord once told me, “None of your people will serve Me in poverty again.” I replied, “Lord, then bless us!” He answered, “You’re not ready for it.” I asked, “Why aren’t we ready, Lord?” And He said, “You cannot be a thief and expect to attract My blessings.”
