“The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression.” – Proverbs 19:11 (NKJV)
Releasing anger refers to letting go of anger without holding onto any grudge or bitterness toward the person who wronged you. When you forgive those who have hurt you, you’re not doing them a favor, you’re doing yourself one.
You might ask, “But do you know what they did to me?” No, I don’t need to know. Whatever the reason, you must always find a reason to forgive.
When the wicked Roman soldiers were crucifying Jesus, He prayed for them and asked His Father to forgive them. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Jesus found a reason to forgive His accusers, and we too must find reasons to forgive others and let go of certain issues.
God will also withhold forgiveness of your sins if you’re unwilling to forgive others (Mark 11:25-26). Jesus taught us that whenever we stand to pray, we should forgive others. Don’t allow unforgiveness to become a barrier to your prayers. Release that anger right now!
PRAYER:
Ask God to help you control your anger.
