“Likewise, you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:5-6
Many Christian women believe that once they’re married, their husbands will always love them no matter what they do. Don’t be deceived, if you provoke a man to anger, he may choose to leave the church and even divorce you. Don’t assume that because your marriage is in Christ, it’s unbreakable. While we do not encourage divorce in the church, we also know that certain attitudes can open the door to discord.
Remember, anything God gives you requires care and humility; otherwise, it can be lost. Never think it couldn’t happen to you, I’ve seen it affect even the wives of pastors. They thought they had “arrived” and took their marriages for granted. Even God responds to humility: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
PRAYER:
Ask God to clothe you with the spirit of humility.
