SEPT. 03 – WHAT IS FASTING?

“I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”

DANIEL 10:3

There have been so many definitions on fasting depending on the understanding of the one defining it. But fasting is simply the abstention from food for a period of time. The purpose is to bring the body under subjection so that the spirit man can become more sensitive to the things of the spirit.

Fasting is not just abstaining from food. It is also a time to concentrate on God and His Kingdom. During fasting, the desires of the body greatly reduce and the spirit rises to control the soul. This means that a fasting person easily discerns more spiritual realities than the one who is not fasting. As you read the word of God during fasting, scriptures will be understood more clearly, and spiritual illumination will come to you speedily. I pray that you will commit to a life of fasting in your Christian walk.

PRAYER:

Pray and ask God to help you walk in the fasting grace of Jesus…….
