OCT. 10 – FEELING INADEQUATE

“And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” Judges 6:15

In the Chapter of Judges 6, we see a situation where the Israelites were impoverished and imprisoned because of the attack of the Midianites on their lives.

They were in need of deliverance and had cried out to God.

God decided to send an angel with a message to a man named Gideon. The angel spoke to Gideon and said, “The Lord is with thee, mighty man of valour!” and Gideon responded by asking “If the Lord is with us, then why are we going through this?” perhaps you have felt the same way. Sometimes you look at your circumstances and wonder where God is.

Gideon also had a further challenge with the information he was given by the angel. The angel told him that he was to deliver Israel from the oppression of their enemies, and Gideon said “Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”

He was feeling inadequate. His family was from the least tribe, and his family was poor even among the poor! He further noted that in that, he was the least of his father’s poor family!

Perhaps you have a reason to feel inadequate. Maybe God is calling you to do something and you feel unqualified. Maybe you are afraid to take a step of faith because of your fears, even though God is speaking.

From Genesis to Revelation, you will notice that God often called the lowest of the low, and He has never used perfect people!

Do not disqualify yourself if God has qualified you. Moses was a stammerer who was a fugitive from Egypt, Saul was a murderer and persecutor of the church, but God still called and used them.

Prayer: Lord, I am available for you, make me an instrument for your glory. In Jesus name. Amen.
